This policy explains what data Zen Mark handles. We keep things simple: your bookmarks belong to you.
Data on your device
Zen Mark stores your bookmarks, categories, tags and settings in your browser's local extension storage. This data never leaves your device unless you choose to enable cloud sync.
Cloud sync (optional)
Zen Mark offers optional cloud sync through a Supabase project. It is only used if you sign in and enable syncing. When enabled, your bookmarks and categories are sent to the Supabase database so they can be restored on other devices or after a reinstall.
- Signing in is optional. All features work offline as a guest without an account.
- If you delete an account or stop syncing, no further data is uploaded.
Network calls made when features are used
- Favicon lookup: when saving or displaying a site, a favicon service (DuckDuckGo or Google) is queried with the site's domain. No personal data is sent.
- AI suggestion: the "AI Categorize" feature may call api.microlink.io with a URL to fetch a page title and description. This is used only to suggest a category and tags.
- Link checking: the "Check Links" feature sends each saved bookmark URL to itself (a HEAD/GET request) to verify it is reachable. This requires an optional, user-granted permission and is only run when you click the button.
What we do not collect
- We do not collect analytics, telemetry, or usage statistics.
- We do not sell or share personal data with third parties.
- We do not read the content of your bookmarks beyond what is described above.
Google sign-in
Google OAuth is used only for authentication if you choose to sign in with Google. Zen Mark receives your basic profile information (name, email) from Google for your account.
Data collection declaration
Zen Mark declares that it does not collect data beyond the optional features described above. All core functionality works locally without an account.
